Landslide at the Rest and be Thankful beauty spot causes traffic chaos.

A landslide closed the A83 at the Rest and be Thankful beauty spot yesterday, as storms battered the West Coast and Central Scotland, disrupting rail services, ferry sailings and causing traffic chaos.
A landslide at the Rest and be Thankful, on the A83 west of Loch Lomond, closed the road to traffic.
The slip on the A83, west of Loch Lomond, which happened following heavy rain, covered both lanes under several feet of debris. The road was shut in both directions between the A814 at Arrochar and the A815 turn-off near Cairndow in Argyll, police said. It is interesting that in 2007, the road was closed for several weeks after around 400 tons of soil and rock fell close to the spot of yesterday’s landslide.
